RE4 is one of the best horror games of all time, so we cannot wait for its release date - March 24th, 2023 when it comes out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Between the newer first-person games, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and Resident Evil 8 Village, and the classic third-person Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake, Capcom has clearly been reaching for the moon with the RE Engine. Even though Resident Evil 4 Remake's announcement might have been spoiled by leaks, the first trailer got us plenty excited, and seeing uncut gameplay footage of it in action has us extremely excited. Is it noticeably scarier? Will it be darker than the original? Does it still have funny moments? Did they make any changes? Did the chainsaw guy get new abilities? The answer is yes, but there's so much more to talk about. So you can just be this sort of Uber, dark magic necromancer that he doesn't even summon anything, but is able to use blood magic to destroy everything on the battlefield."Īfter playing through the original Resident Evil 4 dozens of times on everything from GameCube to Meta Quest 2 VR, Brian Altano got to go hands-on with the first 45 minutes of Capcom's highly anticipated next-gen remake of this modern classic of survival-horror action. "And so how do you choose to your play style? Do I want to play aggressive? Do I play defensive? In fact, there's a way to sacrifice all your minions to just make yourself more powerful. You can different golems, there's three different kinds," Fergusson says. You can have skeletal mages and there's three different kinds. "Now you can have skeletal warriors and there's up to three different kinds. The Iron Golem will also be making a return. In Diablo 4, the Necromancer will get the "Book of the Dead," which makes it possible to turn skeletons into skirmishes, mages, and priests. But the class won't be a complete retread. With the addition of the Necromancer, Diablo 4 is increasingly filled with Diablo 2 alumni, which ties in with Blizzard's determination to get back to basics. His skills included the ability to raise corpses (and blow them up) as well as debilitating status effects. The Necromancer was first introduced in Diablo 2 along with the Amazon, Barbarian, Sorceress, and Paladin (the Druid and Assassin were later added in the Lord of Destruction expansion). Diablo 4 has announced four of its five starting character classes so far: the Barbarian, Druid, Sorceress, and Rogue. And so, it really leans into that feeling of it." "t really speaks to that idea that return to darkness that Diablo 4 represents, that idea of the tone of, as Joseph has talked about, that idea of working with the cult and dark magic and summoning the undead. And necromancer is front center," Shely says.įergusson says that the Necromancer is his favorite class of the bunch. "We've made innovations across the board, but when we are looking at the classes, we wanted to make sure that we were hitting those classes that players have loved throughout the franchise and always want to experience.
